Earlier this month, GUNNZO participated in San Diego-Yokohama Sister City’s first annual Otaku Smash Matsuri! Otaku Smash Matsuri invites guests to express themselves through the art of Japanese pop-culture. Activities included cosplay, panels, karaoke, video games, anime, manga and more! On top of vending, GUNNZO had the pleasure of conducting several activities to help make OSM a real Smash!
Build & Paint Demos
Attendees were able to come and build and paint both small gundam and warhammer minis. These demos were full of people all day coming up with different paint designs. We even had some members of the warhammer community come and use the paints available to come up with unique designs. We hope to see all the creative guests to join us for our weekly Build & Paint Meetup at the Hobby Station.

Seika-Chan
GUNNZO had the pleasure to introduce a fun character to the San Diego community! Kyomachi Seika is a young agent dispatched to Seika Town from a future organization that protects the world from the threat of time paradoxes. After enduring rigorous training to travel through time, her very first assigned mission brought her to present-day Seika Town!
She traveled across time from the future and arrived in the year 2013 (Heisei 25), coincidentally on July 5th—the same as her own birthday—when she first came to Seika Town.
In her daily life, she helps with public relations at the Seika Town Office, sharing a wide range of information with local residents and many others.
Look out for seeing Seika-Chan more at GUNNZO.

Otaku Exterminatus
GUNNZO partnered up with local Warhammer Group, Machine Spirit in conducting a 1000-point 40K tournament! We had 3 two-hour rounds with 12 fierce competitors! In the end, Miles V. and Jeremy L. came out on top! Congrats to our fierce champions, and thank you to Machine Spirit for your support and hard work coordinating the tournament!

Plastic Tacts: Flower Power
We hosted our 7th installment of our Plastic Tactics painting contest, where entrants had to paint based on the selected theme.Everyone welcomed the spring with some floral decor and color schemes. And boy, were we impressed! We had 5 amazing models full of beautiful flowers. It was certainly a close call with votes, Ronald R. came out on top as Grand Master of Flowers with his RG Wing Gundam! He gave it a cherry blossom theme while shaping his gundam like a humming bird! If you want to be able to bring your creativity to life, join our 8th installment of Plastic Tactics: Summer Lovin’, Registration is now open and entries will be judged during this year’s San Diego Comic Con!

We had so much fun meeting fellow otaku to celebrate all things Japanese pop culture! We hope to see everyone again for OSM April 17, 2027!
